The LA wildfires have been a tremendous tragedy. So many acres have burned, while firefighters and citizens watched helplessly in many cases. While we haven’t had much experience with wildfires in New Jersey over the years, we have an amazing second line of defense up at Picatinny Arsenal. If the need should ever arise, Picatinny has about 36 firefighters on staff ready to be deployed to towns all over Morris County and northern NJ.

When wildfires breakout, the containment of those fires is usually something volunteer firefighters do not have the experience to deal with. That’s where the Picatinny units come in. They have specialized training and equipment to ensure any fire that breaks out can be contained before massive damage is realized.

Goodbye, Staples? Maybe, but not just yet 🏗️ 

Amongst the tremendous redevelopment that has happened over the past 18 months in Morristown, another plan has been unveiled which focused on the northern side of the Morristown Train Station, loveably called the Staples building. Developers are calling this project ‘The Metro’ which as currently planned, would include 126 rental apartments, 100 extended stay units, and subsidized retail units.

There are still ongoing discussions with government boards trying to figure out all the zoning and approvals necessary. Some residents living in the Olyphant/Jardine area have voiced concerns about increased traffic and noise. Our guess is this plan will be approved at some point in 2025, and we’ll have another huge project to call our own hopefully in 2026.
